exercise 3: analysis & visual representation of information (current project in progress)

Building on the preceding exercises on graphics and communication, this exercise will address the analysis of a complex subject, the synthesis of information, and its visual representation in order to generate knowledge rather than ‘present’ unprocessed information and data.

You are to choose a musician/singer/songwriter/band and one of his/her/their songs. You will analyze each (musician and song) and represent information on each in two ‘maps’. This will be accomplished in a synthetic and visual manner using images, diagrams, quantitative information and concise text.

building structures & teamwork (jan 23-26)

As an introductory exercise in material and structure, and also teamwork and time management, MYP5 students worked in groups to construct the highest tower possible with 50 plastic straws and adhesive tape in thirty minutes that would support a small rubber ball.

They made a first tower to experiment, critiqued the results, then formed better strategies to build a second tower.

Tallest tower: 102 cm.
